Dr. McPhie's passion for medicine and healing began at a very young age building upon her love of the natural world and science.  She completed her undergraduate degree in Biology at McGill University, and then went on to complete a 4 year study of natural medicine at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, completed 2 years of clinical practice in Toronto, and then returned to the westcoast to continue her career. She has operated a successful family practice for over 20 years seeing patients of all ages from all over the lower mainland.

 

Dr McPhie lectures frequently at universities, colleges and to the public. She was the recipient of the David Schleich President's award of Excellence and the Dr. Patricia Wales award for her significant contribution to the development of the naturopathic profession in Canada.  She was also recognised by UBC for her many years as a mentor in the nutritional sciences program.

 

Dr. Mcphie is very passionate about treating a wide variety of conditions for the whole family with naturopathic medicine.  She has a general naturopathic practice and therefore treats a wide variety of conditions and concerns. Dr Mcphie is an avid supporter of children's health and prevention.

Florence graduated from Dalhousie in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science and Physical Therapy.

After practicing in various provinces across Canada, Florence moved to Tsawwassen in 1997 and enjoys the feeling of living and working in the same community. 

Florence is a proud Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapists, a member of The Acupuncture Foundation of Canada and is certified in CGIMS (Chan Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation)

 

She has also completed many courses with the Barral Institute in visceral and neural manipulation.

Susan Furtado

Susan Furtado is a Registered Clinical Psychotherapist with the BCACC and holds a Master of Arts Degree in Counselling Psychology from Adler University.  She is also a Registered Holistic Nutritionist (R.H.N) with 20 years experience in the Natural Health Food Industry. Susan specializes in the field of mood disorders and employs an exclusively unique, combined approach using a blend of psychotherapy & corrective nutritional implementation, known as  Psycho-Nutra-Therapy (PNT) ™

 

Susan's comprehensive approach goes well beyond the traditional propensity to treat symptoms only. With the addition of emotional support and specific individual therapeutic intervention,  clients are steered towards optimum physical, mental health and ultimate well being.

Certified Bowen Therapist

 

Janine truly appreciates the therapeutic gentle yet incredibly effective approach of Bowen therapy. Her own healing experience with Bowen is what led her to be trained and certified as a Bowen Therapist. 

 

She is a Certified Bowen Therapist (CBT) through the North American Bowen Teaching College. She practices the Original Bowen Therapy (Bowen TC) as approved and endorsed by the Tom Bowen Heritage Foundation of Australia Inc. She studied under the direction of Jonathan Damonte and has been a Bowen Therapist since 2016 working out of her Vancouver offices. 

 

As a Bowen Therapist, her ultimate goal is to offer simple effective treatment to help her clients gain relief from pain and discomfort in order to live a better quality of life. She is a great believer in helping her clients find ways to help themselves and to manage their own wellbeing. In her sessions Janine also offers energy healings which can further help calm and heal the body. She has been a meditation practitioner and energy healer for over 17 years. She welcomes the Tsawwassen neighbourhood.

Through the practice of yoga, we cultivate awareness and connection, not only to our physical beings but to our non-physical aspects as well.  Yoga can provide an outlet to find peace and tranquility.  It offers a space to shift our perspective and reflect on our views of ourselves and the world around us.

 

Kate has found a deep personal connection to her yoga practice and has seen first-hand the benefits yoga has to offer.  When looking for a way to blend her knowledge of the body and her training with her passion for yoga and helping others Kate discovered yoga therapy.

 

Yoga therapy is a holistic approach to healing.  It works with all principles and tools within yoga as a way to treat and guide people on their healing journey.  Yoga therapy looks at the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of our being.  Yoga therapy is spontaneous and dynamic when working to meet the specific needs of each individual.

 

As Kate shifts her focus her lens broadens and she has found her passion.  Kate’s passion lies with working alongside her clients, helping guide and hold space.  She wants to create a safe environment based around support, trust and empowerment.  It is her hope that through working together you are able to remove obstacles, awaken new ideas and find a way home to live a more balanced life.

 

Kate is a Therapeutic Yoga teacher with 500 hours of certification; 300 hours in The Foundation of Yoga Therapy and currently completing 800 hours in Yoga Therapy at VSOHA.  Kate holds a Degree in Human Kinetics from UBC and pursued a career in the field of health and wellness.  With 20 years of personal training experience behind her she has shifted her focus towards a more holistic approach to healing and treating the body as a whole.  Kate is excited to work with you and is looking forward to share in your journey.
